What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

Andrea Pastore 16/06/2025 0

"Global Compact" of the United Nations is a project that unites several people towards a single purpose: the promotion of a sustainable global economy.

Global Pact offers for the first time the possibility of addressing the critical aspects of globalization in a perspective of international collaboration, which becomes a single community and seeks to find a reconciliation between the interests of individuals and those of peoples and the environment. It was first proposed in 1999 at the World Economic Forum in Davos by former United Nations Secretary Kofi Annan.

So, starting from July 2000, the Global Compact has come to life involving so far more than 18,000 companies from 160 countries around the world, giving life to a new reality of collaboration.

The present commitment signed between the participating companies and the United Nations is to overcome the limits of globalization, transforming the latter into a process characterized by sustainability and cooperation.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030: the benefits for companies for a sustainable future

Economic development does not stop. However, it is necessary to change the approach to the world of work. Small and large companies, which have the task of investing in innovation by developing partnerships, are called to make a contribution to this responsibility.

All this must be done through the search for the development of sustainable solutions at 360 °. The advantages that would derive from a change of approach are many, including:

  • Identify new business opportunities
  • Strengthen relations with stakeholders
  • Stabilize the markets, thanks to the promotion of transparent and non-corrupt financial systems
  • Identify, manage and monitor risks

What are the goals of building a global community centered on solidarity and sustainability?

The golas in the 2030 Agenda are more ambitious than ever and require the commitment of the governments of individual nations, of companies, but also of civil society, to be able to implement economic and social change in a sustainable key.

There are 17 objectives through which it is possible to renew the world in all its complexity, namely:

SDG 1 - End all forms of poverty in the world

SDG 2 - End hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

SDG 3 - Ensuring health and well-being for all and for all ages

SDG 4 - Provide quality, equitable and inclusive education, and learning opportunities for all

SDG 5 - Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

SDG 6 - Ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation facilities for all

SDG 7 - Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy systems for all

SDG 8 - Encourage lasting, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

SDG 9 - Building a resilient infrastructure and promoting innovation and fair, responsible and sustainable industrialization

SDG 10 - Reduce inequality within and between nations

SDG 11 - Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, long-lasting and sustainable

SDG 12 - Ensuring sustainable production and consumption models

SDG 13 - Promote actions, at all levels, to combat climate change

SDG 14 - Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

SDG 15 - Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of the terrestrial ecosystem

SDG 16 - Peace, justice and strong institutions

SDG 17 - Strengthen the means of implementation and renew the global partnership for sustainable development

The commitment of each individual is fundamental, but it is even more necessary that every business reality and every governing body work in synergy.

Being able to achieve all 17 goals means implementing a real revolution that can change the destiny of man and the environment.

The first Sustainability Report of Antonio Sada & Figli
[:en] Antonio Sada & figli, the historical company of Sada Group, presented its first Sustainability Report 2017 in December 2018. This is a work in which investors strongly believe, a path marked by ambitious objectives and promises. The company commits itself to halve its impact within 2030. In this Report the product is the result of a policy focused on people, on environment and on community. Sustainability is the common denominator and strategic factor for the development of the Group's future activities. The idea of implementing the sustainability report starts from the desire to make known the history and values ??of the Group, the impacts and the relevant aspects, to communicate in a transparent way the commitment, projects and results of policies for sustainable development, create value for the company and its stakeholders and adapt, voluntarily, to the main non-financial reporting standards. These are the key points of a reality that makes environmental and social sustainability its strong point: promoting employee well-being, improving health and safety, promoting a responsible supply chain, reducing environmental impacts and water and energy consumption, increase customer satisfaction, promote social and economic development of the community. It is a great commitment to which all Employees are called to respond, collaborating ever more closely with each other, with suppliers, customers and the whole community. All together united to create a more responsible and sustainable packaging. Download the sustainability report

The Sada Group on July 22nd at the Sala Verde of the Multimedial Valley of Giffoni Film Festival, together with COMIECO, was the testimonial of good business practices in the area, with a view to sustainability and recycling. It explained to the children what packaging is, what it is used for, how it is made and how important the paper resource is. The writer and journalist Luca Pagliari, presents the Masterclass Eco.
